Ingredients for S’mores Campfire Banana Boats
Just four essential ingredients go into making this treat! The recipe makes 4, but simply adjust the quantity depending upon how many you need.
- Bananas –Choose bananas that are ripe but not too mushy.
- Enjoy Life Foods Ricemilk Morsels – Smooth, indulgent and perfect for melting. This allergy-friendly chocolate is our go-to, but if you’re a fan of dark chocolate, go for it.
- Marshmallows – Mini marshmallows work best and thankfully there are vegan & gluten free brands available that melt perfectly!
- Optional – Crushed cookies, strawberries, seed butter, or anything else you’d like to stuff them with.
Time to gather up these ingredients and get to making this amazing camping dessert…
How To Make Campfire Banana Boats
- Preheat your grill to high heat (you can also do this over the campfire)
- Cut foil into 10” squares.
- Slice your bananas. Cut about ½ way through down the middle, making sure not to cut through the bottom. Use your fingers to pull center apart so there’s room to stuff the banana.
- Stuff the banana boats with as much Ricemilk chocolate morsels and mini marshmallows as you’d like.
- Wrap. Place each banana on a square of aluminum foil. Wrap the bananas up from the bottom to the top, crimping the top so there’s a little space between the banana and the foil.
- Cook. Place the foil banana s’mores directly on the grill grates and grill for 5-7 minutes.
Remove with tongs, and enjoy. The bananas can be eaten directly out of the peel, or scooped out into a bowl. I like to use Enjoy Life Foods Cookies as the scoop.
Banana Boat Recipe Tips
- When slicing the banana, be sure not to cut it all the way through. I cut about 1/2 way down then create the center in the middle.
- Don’t overstuff your banana or you’ll have a hard time closing and wrapping it up.
- Make sure the wrapped banana rests safely in the grill grates while cooking so the toppings stay upright.
- Always use tongs to remove dessert from the grill (or fire) because its HOT!
- Be careful when opening the foil as steam may release which can also be hot.
- TO check for doneness, you can open 1 foil packet to see if the banana peel is black or simply push on the foil and if its soft, then it’s done. You just don’t want to overcook and make these mushy.
Delicious Banana Boat Variations
Swap chocolate – Use semi sweet mini chocolate chips, white chocolate, dark chocolate … Enjoy Life Foods makes them all!
Add fruit inside- We love adding diced strawberries to ours. Blueberries & raspberries would also be delish.
Drizzle with sauces- Vegan caramel sauce, hot fudge, agave, creamy seed butter are just a few to get you started.
NiceCream – Top with vegan whip or tasty dairy-free ice cream.
Lose the spoon– scoop out your roasted banana boat with crunchy cookies instead for twice the YUM!
