When its so hot outside, most of us look for refreshing treats like ice cream or popsicles to cool us down. As yummy as those can be, they are loaded with sugars and most have tons of processed nonsense and who wants to fill our children up with that. So, two nights ago my kids and I made our own whipped fruit sorbet, and it was tasty. Not only great to eat, but there was no slaving in the kitchen or waiting hours and stirring occasionally as it freezes. This is so easy, you’ll wonder why you didn’t try it before.
3 frozen, peeled bananas
1 Cup frozen berries
Vegan Chocolate Chips
Puree frozen fruit in a food processor until smooth.
Push down sides with spatula as needed.
Sprinkle with chocolate chips.
It’s that easy! At first it I didn’t think it’d get as smooth as I’d like it, but thats where an extra minute or two of patience comes in. And it was worth it.
The great thing about this is that you can use any fruit you like or any combination of fruit. If you’re children are anything like mine, they all want to make up their own “concoctions”. Xander wants just bananas and strawberries next time. Zac would like to throw in more chocolate or maybe even mini marshmallows. Cayden wants to try blueberries or mango. Me, I think I’m going to try adding some protein powder and make it more of a sorbet smoothie.
