I'm reminded recently that we are in the months of winter. Up until now, Tulsa has had a fairly warm season and there hasn't been much need to run to those typical comfort foods. But now, I'm cold!
I wake up cold, I turn on the little heater next to my desk to warm my toes, I keep a hot coffee with me most of the day (it's like a hand warmer with benefits). Because of that internal chill that is so difficult to shake, I'm starting to turn to soup and stew and chili to warm myself and my family on the inside.
This Sweet Potato Gnocchi did the trick! Not only was it nice and hot, like most soups should be, but the combination was quite enjoyable. I never had gnocchi in a soup before but I wanted to do something other than topping it with pasta sauce (although that would be delicious as well).
Have ever eaten monkey bread? You may have actually had it before but by a different name such as cinnamon roll bread, pull-apart rolls, or monkey balls, just to name a few. If you haven't had this bread before, then you are in for a treat. It is like having a HUGE Cinnabon for breakfast, lunch or dessert. Warm and gooey sweet bread rolls, coated in cinnamon sugar, layered then baked in a bundt cake pan, then drizzled (or drenched) in a layer of icing. Sounds pretty amazing, right?
Rarely is there a morning that I don't have to wake up early and get ready to be somewhere. But today, was one of those rare days and it was AWESOME!
Most days, I'm up by 6, making sure my oldest is awake and getting ready for school. Then by the time he leaves, my other 2 are waking and it starts all over again. On the weekends, its all about waking up early and getting my daughter off to tumbling and then Sunday mornings is filled with getting ready and going to church. But this week,,,,,,well I had today off simply because I went to church last night!
It was a pj wearing, pancake making, don't do your hair at all kinda of day (well, at least it was for the kids).
