Tis the season for gift giving! I hope you had a yummy Thanksgiving and enjoyed your time off celebrating with those you hold dear.  For many of us, Thanksgiving is the beginning of the shopping madness, and I just had to share my favorite gift ideas for those who love to cook, love to eat, and love to host.  SO basically all things food and as always, allergy-friendly.   Hopefully my 2016 Holiday Gift Guide for the food-allergy foodie will give you some fun ideas .  I know I had fun making this list and crossing my fingers that I get a few of these too :)  .

Chocolate Sunbutter Crisp Pops

This winter, we took the kids to see the movie Creed and it's been non-stop, all things Rocky since then. We have all watched & re-watched, every single movie over the past 2 months and even now, I’m sitting here with my daughter, watching as Rocky admits to Adrian that he is afraid to fight & lose everything shortly after Mickey's death. As always, Adrian ends up encouraging him, telling him that she believes in him which leads to a more intensely driven training sequence. Enter “eye of the tiger”……..

This is seriously such a great movie series (Rocky V included)!

Do you know what else is seriously good?  Nestle Crunch candy bars, or at least they use to one of my favorites when I was younger.  Something about the sweet chocolate with crispy rice in each bite, had me running to the corner store to spend what little money I had as a kid.

I'm reminded recently that we are in the months of winter.   Up until now, Tulsa has had a fairly warm season and there hasn't been much need to run to those typical comfort foods. But now, I'm cold! I wake up cold, I turn on the little heater next to my desk to warm my toes, I keep a hot coffee with me most of the day (it's like a hand warmer with benefits). Because of that internal chill that is so difficult to shake, I'm starting to turn to soup and stew and chili  to warm myself and my family on the inside. This Sweet Potato Gnocchi did the trick!  Not only was it nice and hot, like most soups should be, but the combination was quite enjoyable. I never had gnocchi in a soup before but I wanted to do something other than topping it with pasta sauce (although that would be delicious as well).

Fluffy Baked Bisquits

Over the years we have greatly decreased the amount of bread we eat in the house. As a once "go-to" for all things breakfast, lunch and dinner, it's now only used occasionally and the quality of bread has gone from typical bagged breads to sprouted or homemade ones.

So when I made this the other day, my oldest let me know the he "loved when I made bread".  Sweet right? I guess my kids have learned to enjoy the little things, like homemade bread.

Dragonfruit Strawberry Jam

I think I am obsessed with chia seeds.  I throw them in smoothies, sprinkle them on sunbutter & banana sandwiches, use it as an egg replacer, make puddings and overnight oats with them but not once have I tried using them to make jam, until NOW!

If I only knew just how easy this was, I really would have done this a long time ago.

No boiling water, no canning, no tools. Simply fruit, maple syrup and chia seeds.  That's it!
